I took out the trash early in the morning. It was cold and dark. I dragged the bin to the street and put it in its usual spot– right underneath a streetlight. The glow of the streetlight made the thin layer of frost sparkle like the night sky. It was stunning and dazzling and in its own way, transcendent. The street was quiet and I lingered for a moment looking at the nightfall of diamonds on the lid of my trash bin.
