In 2014 I defended my doctoral dissertation: Spotlight on Adolescent Spirituality. In preparing that dissertation and in the years since, I have remained deeply committed to the importance of spiritual development for people of all ages, but especially for children and adolescents. Spirituality, most easily explained as a feeling of connection, is critical to our wellbeing, health, and wholeness. Because spirituality is a misunderstood and overused term, too many people fail to nurture and develop their sense of spirituality. I think many of today’s societal ills can be at least partially attributed to the fact that our culture misunderstands and undervalues the importance of spirituality.
